Abstract

Computed Tomographic Evaluation of Lung Diseases in Dogs

Year 2022, Volume: 4 Issue: 1, 28 - 36, 23.12.2022

Abstract

After the general examination methods, the most used diagnostic method in the diagnosis of lung diseases in dogs is radiological examination. The most commonly used radiological examination method in veterinary clinical practice is radiography. However, radiography has disadvantages such as superpositions obscuring the diagnosis in imaging the lungs and inability to fully identify pathological structures. Considering these disadvantages, the use of Computed Tomography (CT), which creates cross-sectional images using current technology and can create 3-dimensional images, comes to the fore. CT has just started to be used in the diagnosis of lung diseases in the field of veterinary medicine in our country. However, it has been stated in previous studies that the standardization of computed tomographic images of lung lesions in animals has not been fully established. This review was written to contribute to the evaluation of computerized tomographic images used in the diagnosis of lung diseases in dogs.
