Comparison of autoanalyzer and blood gas device in creatinine and glucose analysis in lambs

Abstract

In this study, it was aimed to compare creatinine and glucose levels in blood samples taken from lambs by using autoanalyzer and blood gas device. 100 lambs of both sexes at the age of 1-3 months were included in the study. A 5 ml blood sample was taken once from the vena jugular of the lambs. Creatinine and glucose measurements were made from whole blood samples using a blood gas device and from serum samples in an autoanalyzer. There was a significant (p<0.05) difference between the devices in terms of creatinine and glucose levels. In addition, creatinine and glucose levels were found to have a significant correlation between the two devices (r=0.43 and r=0.974, p<0.001, respectively). As a result, it was concluded that there could be significant differences between the glucose and creatinine values of both devices and these differences should be evaluated in terms of analysis results.

Öz

Bu çalışmada, kuzulardan alınan kan örneklerinde otoanalizör ve kan gaz cihazı kullanılarak kreatinin ve glikoz düzeylerinin karşılaştırılması amaçlandı. 1-3 aylık yaşta her iki cinsiyetten 100 kuzu çalışmaya dahil edildi. Kuzuların vena jugularisinden bir kez 5 ml kan örneği alındı. Alınan tam kan örneklerinden kan gaz cihazı kullanılarak ve serum örneklerinden otoanalizörde kreatinin ve glikoz ölçümleri yapıldı. Kreatinin ve glikoz düzeyleri açısından cihazlar arasında önemli düzeyde (p<0.05) farklılık belirlendi. Ayrıca kreatinin ve glikoz düzeylerinin iki cihaz arasında önemli korelasyona (sırasıyla r=0.43 ve r=0.974, p<0.001) sahip olduğu tespit edildi. Sonuç olarak, her iki cihazın glikoz ve kreatinin değerleri arasında önemli farklılıkların bulunabileceği ve analiz sonuçları açısından bu farklılıkların değerlendirilmesi gerektiği kanaatine varıldı.
